COMPEX TRAINING SCHEME

Training courses

The CompEx Training Scheme provides trainees with essential knowledge and practical skills to enable safe electrical installation work in potentially explosive atmospheres, whether due to flammable gas or combustible dust.

The courses are closely associated with EEMUA 186 Practitioners' Handbook (which may also be purchased separately in the EEMUA Online Shop). The CompEx Scheme is supported by the GB Health & Safety Executive.

The CompEx course currently consists of ten training and assessment units, which can be studied individually or as complementary pairs.

The training takes a period of between two and four days, depending on the units taken. The assessments can take two days to complete and follow on immediately from the training. Each candidate is required to demonstrate competence through a seriers of practical tests and written multi-choice test papers, with successful candidates receiving a CompEx Certificate of Core Competence.

Course Registration

In the first instance contact the most appropriate centre from the list above. The registration details and the relevant fee then needs to be sent to the assessment centre. As part of the registration process, the centre will ask you to complete a standard questionnaire to help establish your previous experience and qualifications.
